Job Description
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to drive the day-to-day kitchen operations and uphold consistently high culinary standards. This is a hands-on role suited to a motivated kitchen leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering quality food experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with menu execution and kitchen leadership
- Overseeing service to ensure dishes are prepared to venue standards
- Training, mentoring and developing junior kitchen staff
- Assisting with ordering, stock rotation, inventory and cost control
- Maintaining kitchen compliance, food safety and cleanliness standards
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative and community-minded team culture
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced chef with a strong background in quality pub, bistro or restaurant environments. You will be confident running sections, supporting kitchen operations and leading a team in a busy service.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a similar Sous Chef or similar capacity
- Strong cooking fundamentals and passion for producing high-quality food
- Ability to lead and motivate teams during peak periods
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety and cost management
- A proactive, energetic approach and a desire to grow within the business
