This newly-established hospitality group operates a modern community pub in Sydney’s Inner West. The venue is known for its elevated food offering launched and developed by a celebrity chef, featuring elevated cuisine in a casual setting. With no gaming operations, the focus is firmly on guest experience, quality service and operational excellence.

Job Description
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to drive the day-to-day kitchen operations and uphold consistently high culinary standards. This is a hands-on role suited to a motivated kitchen leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering quality food experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Head Chef with menu execution and kitchen leadership
  • Overseeing service to ensure dishes are prepared to venue standards
  • Training, mentoring and developing junior kitchen staff
  • Assisting with ordering, stock rotation, inventory and cost control
  • Maintaining kitchen compliance, food safety and cleanliness standards
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative and community-minded team culture

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced chef with a strong background in quality pub, bistro or restaurant environments. You will be confident running sections, supporting kitchen operations and leading a team in a busy service.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience in a similar Sous Chef or similar capacity
  • Strong cooking fundamentals and passion for producing high-quality food
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams during peak periods
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety and cost management
  • A proactive, energetic approach and a desire to grow within the business
