Hastings People is proud to partner with a well-regarded hospitality group to appoint an accomplished Pizza Chef for the launch of an exciting new pizzeria concept in Carlton, Melbourne.
The group is independently owned and highly respected for pushing culinary boundaries across its diverse operations. Its flagship venue delivers a modern Italian offering at a hatted level and is positioned as one of the city's leading dining destinations.
This role presents a unique opportunity for a talented chef to lead a dynamic team, collaborate with acclaimed culinary leaders, and contribute to the growth of a brand set to expand across Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality Roman-style hand-stretched pizzas, following an established menu while maintaining consistency and speed.
Oversee day-to-day operations of a 40-seat dine-in pizzeria including the takeaway component.
Manage and mentor a team of 4-6 chefs, including involvement in recruitment, training, and development.
Operate a state-of-the-art dual-fuel pizza oven.
Maintain high levels of efficiency across service and preparation, treating the pizzeria as your own business.
Represent the brand with strong in-house presence and flair; contribute positively to its social media image.
Collaborate with senior culinary leadership (Executive Chef of premise) while ensuring smooth, independent operations day to day.
The Ideal Candidate
Strong knowledge of traditional pizza dough and bases, with the ability to add modern twists to toppings.
Hands-on experience in high-volume environments, capable of handling significant takeaway demand while maintaining quality.
Proven leadership ability with experience managing and motivating small kitchen teams.
Fast, organized, and highly efficient, with a fun and engaging personality.
Skilled beyond pizza-making, with the ability to prepare complementary menu items.
Comfortable being guest-facing, with confidence and presence in the kitchen.
Familiarity with building a strong social media presence is an advantage.
