Job Description

The Head Chef will oversee all aspects of the kitchen operation, leading the brigade to deliver high-quality food in a busy, fast-paced environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive consistency, develop the team, and contribute creatively to a French-influenced menu while maintaining strong operational control.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Writing and developing menus that reflect a French-leaning, produce-driven style

  • Leading, mentoring, and managing a well-established kitchen team

  • Overseeing kitchen rostering and labour management

  • Managing ordering, supplier relationships, and stock control

  • Maintaining food cost targets and strong kitchen operational standards

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a confident Head Chef or experienced Senior Sous Chef ready to take ownership of a busy waterfront venue. They will bring strong leadership capability, organisational skills, and an appreciation for French-influenced cuisine executed with premium seasonal produce.

Key attributes include:

  • Experience leading kitchens in premium or high-volume venues

  • Strong understanding of French techniques and produce-driven menus

  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop kitchen teams

  • Solid operational knowledge including rostering, ordering, and cost control

  • Calm and organised leadership during busy service periods
