Job Description

The Head Chef is a vital leadership role within the  Club, responsible for the overall success and efficiency of our kitchen operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead a dedicated team, ensuring consistently high-quality food, efficient service, and a positive dining experience for our members.

This is a hands-on position that requires a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring and developing staff, and is passionate about delivering exceptional food.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Kitchen Management: Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, presentation, and service.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of approximately 15 chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Menu Development: Create and maintain a diverse and appealing menu that caters to a wide range of tastes, dietary needs, and preferences. Balance classic pub fare with innovative dishes.

  • Cost Control: Manage food costs, inventory, and purchasing to ensure profitability and minimise waste.

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.

  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on kitchen performance, food costs, and customer feedback to the Office Manager and General Manager.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment (ideally pubs or clubs).

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious food.

  • Solid understanding of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen operations.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other basic computer software.
