Job Description
The Head Chef is a vital leadership role within the Club, responsible for the overall success and efficiency of our kitchen operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead a dedicated team, ensuring consistently high-quality food, efficient service, and a positive dining experience for our members.
This is a hands-on position that requires a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring and developing staff, and is passionate about delivering exceptional food.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Kitchen Management: Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, presentation, and service.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of approximately 15 chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Menu Development: Create and maintain a diverse and appealing menu that caters to a wide range of tastes, dietary needs, and preferences. Balance classic pub fare with innovative dishes.
Cost Control: Manage food costs, inventory, and purchasing to ensure profitability and minimise waste.
Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Reporting: Provide regular reports on kitchen performance, food costs, and customer feedback to the Office Manager and General Manager.
Candidate Profile
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment (ideally pubs or clubs).
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious food.
Solid understanding of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and other basic computer software.
