Our client operates a well-established hospitality venue in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs that has been a cornerstone of the local community for many years. Known for its lively atmosphere, strong food and beverage offering, and consistent gaming trade, the venue attracts a loyal neighbourhood crowd alongside steady daily traffic. With significant renovations planned for next year, the business is entering an exciting new chapter that will further strengthen its position as a leading local pub.

Job Description

The General Manager will take full operational ownership of the venue, overseeing all aspects of day-to-day performance while maintaining the pub’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming local. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in high-volume environments and understands the balance between operational excellence, team leadership and commercial performance.

You will work closely with ownership to drive revenue across food, beverage and gaming while preparing the venue for its upcoming redevelopment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a large front-of-house team across bar, gaming and floor operations

  • Driving revenue and profitability across food, beverage and gaming departments

  • Maintaining strong service standards and a consistent guest experience

  • Managing rosters, labour control, compliance and operational systems

  • Working alongside ownership on planning and operational readiness for the upcoming renovation

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced hospitality leader with a strong background in high-volume pubs or multi-revenue venues. You will bring a balance of commercial awareness, operational expertise and leadership capability, with the confidence to manage a busy and established local venue.

Key attributes include:

  • Proven experience as a Venue Manager or General Manager in a high-volume pub or hospitality venue

  • Strong understanding of gaming operations and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train and motivate large teams

  • Commercial mindset with strong financial and operational management skills

  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating a strong local venue culture
