Job Description

Client Profile

Our client operates a gastro-pub in Sydney’s Inner West with a reputation for quality food, relaxed service and strong local patronage. The venue blends the charm of a classic neighbourhood pub with a genuine focus on food, delivering a menu that attracts both regular locals and destination diners. With a supportive leadership team and a stable, experienced crew, the venue prioritises hospitality standards, team culture and sustainable working hours.

Job Description

The Assistant Venue Manager will work closely with the Venue Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, with a particular focus on food service, restaurant standards and overall guest experience. This role suits a hospitality professional who understands the rhythm of a busy, food-driven venue and can confidently lead a floor during peak service periods.

You will play a key role in ensuring the restaurant operation runs smoothly while supporting the broader venue team to deliver consistent service and a welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading service on the floor with a strong focus on restaurant standards and guest experience

  • Supporting rostering, team supervision and service leadership across food-led periods

  • Working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service flow and product quality

  • Assisting with venue operations including opening, closing and daily management duties

  • Contributing to staff training and maintaining a positive, professional team culture

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring a strong food and service background within quality hospitality environments. This may suit an Assistant Venue Manager from a premium gastro-pub or an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager looking to transition into a broader venue leadership role.

You will be confident managing busy services, supporting a team on the floor and maintaining high hospitality standards.

Key attributes include:

  • Experience in a food-driven pub, gastro-pub or quality restaurant environment

  • Proven ability to lead service and support front-of-house teams during busy periods

  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and guest experience standards

  • Professional communication skills and a hands-on leadership style

  • A passion for hospitality and neighbourhood venues with strong local trade

Offer

This is an opportunity to join a respected Inner West venue offering a balanced hospitality role with no gaming and no late-night trading, within a supportive and stable team environment.
