Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Sous Chef or a talented Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step within a premium, high-volume restaurant operation in Melbourne's CBD.
Working closely with the Head Chef and senior culinary leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in leading daily kitchen operations, supporting service delivery and maintaining the exceptional standards the venue is known for.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting service within a busy, quality-focused kitchen
- Training, mentoring and developing chefs across the brigade
- Assisting with menu development, recipe implementation and seasonal menu updates
- Managing food quality, consistency and presentation standards
- Supporting rostering, ordering, stock control and cost management initiatives
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and operational compliance standards
- Contributing to a positive, professional and collaborative kitchen culture
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a passionate culinary professional who thrives in fast-paced, quality-driven environments and enjoys developing both people and processes.
You will bring strong technical cooking skills, natural leadership ability and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.
Key requirements include:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, or as a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to progress
- Experience within premium restaurants, hotels or quality-focused hospitality operations
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Passion for seasonal produce and contemporary cuisine
- High attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Understanding of food cost management, ordering and kitchen administration
