Job Description
The Head Sommelier will take ownership of the wine program within a key venue, leading service from the floor while shaping a list that complements the venue’s style, clientele and culinary direction.
This role is suited to a Head Sommelier who combines strong technical capability with warmth, personality and emotional intelligence. The venue attracts a broad guest mix, requiring someone who can seamlessly adapt their service style, whether engaging with suburban families, long-standing regulars or corporate clientele.
You will work closely with venue leadership and the culinary team to ensure the wine offering feels thoughtful, commercially balanced and genuinely connected to the overall guest experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead wine service with confidence, warmth and strong floor presence
- Curate and maintain a wine list aligned with the venue’s dining philosophy
- Build genuine guest relationships and enhance the overall dining experience
- Work closely with suppliers and maintain strong industry relationships
- Support and develop floor staff in wine knowledge and service standards
- Contribute to a service culture that feels refined, approachable and highly engaging
You are an experienced Head Sommelier who understands that great service is as much about connection and personality as it is technical knowledge. You operate with professionalism and confidence, while creating experiences that feel welcoming, relaxed and memorable for a broad range of guests.
You will bring:
- Experience as a Head Sommelier or senior wine leader within premium dining environments
- Strong wine knowledge across key regions, producers and styles
- A polished yet personable approach to guest engagement
- Ability to adapt service style across varied clientele and occasions
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of list performance
