Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Head Chef to lead a high-performing kitchen within a premium hospitality environment. This role will suit a passionate culinary leader who thrives in quality-driven operations and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences through consistency, innovation, and strong team leadership.
Reporting into senior operational and culinary leadership, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen performance while fostering a culture of professionalism, development, and excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a diverse kitchen team
- Maintaining exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency across all services
- Managing rostering, ordering, stock control, and kitchen administration
- Monitoring food safety compliance and maintaining all associated documentation
- Supervising workplace health and safety standards and procedures
- Driving labour efficiency and supporting the achievement of food cost targets
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure operational excellence across the business
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an accomplished Head Chef with experience operating within premium restaurant environments. You will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organisational capability, and a genuine passion for hospitality and contemporary cuisine.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef within a premium restaurant environment
- Exemplary leadership skills and a passion for global culinary trends
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate diverse teams
- Experience managing food safety programs and compliance documentation
- Sound rostering, ordering, and inventory management experience
- Understanding of financial budgets, food and labour cost management
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Calm and composed leadership style during busy service periods
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels
- Genuine interest in day-to-day operations and continuous improvement
- Full availability, including weekends, public holidays, and opening and closing shifts
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite
- Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
